ArcGIS Tutorial

The tutorial explain step by step procedures which can be used to develop GIS database using ArcGIS software. The development of GIS database involved the following process: i. enter the right coordinate system ii. select the features to be map iii. model the data into point, line or polygon iv. organize the layers or theme v. develop the relevant attribute (database) for each layer / theme

This tutorial explains step by step procedures to create, manipulate, compute and presenting the surface in 3D using ArcGIS Software Extension (3D Analyst and Spatial Analyst). This report explains step by step procedures to generate TIN layer from the mass points (masspnt.dbf). The information about the slope, aspect, hillshade and viewshed of the TIN layer will be determine using ArcGIS 3D Analyst software. Then the Calculator menu from Spatial Analyst software will be used to extract the information required by setting the parameters.

Network Analysis has been used in various applications such as street network analysis, traffic flow modeling, telephone cable networking, pipeline and etc. The basic forms of network analysis simply extract information from network. One example of this is the shortest-path between two points. The objective of this tutorial exercise as follows : i. To apply the network concept in a linear features. ii. To carry out several network analyses based on the generated network data.

GIS Analysis
This tutorial involved two type of analysis as follows : i. Land Availability Analysis
The final product or output from this exercise will be a single file/layer contains locations of available areas to be used for development which has been created based on the given criteria/parameters. ii. Land Suitability Analysis
The final product or output from this analysis will be a single file/layer contains the geographic location of an area that suitable for landfill based on the given criteria/parameters.
